*** NOTE *** Since the creation
of television, cameras and related equipment have required standardized
calibration procedures. The standards for this purpose were adopted by
the Electronic Industries Association(EIA), which specified a series of
test charts conforming to their requirements and identified by the letters
EIA preceding their title. The charts contain various optical patterns, neutral gray backgrounds of specified reflectance and gloss factors, and two types of gray scales. These gray scales have matte finishes. The gray steps conform to the reflectances shown on the back of the charts to within very tight tolerances. These complex requirements need a variety of manufacturing methods and unique materials, such as lacquer pigments and vehicle systems with high permanence, even under bright lights, so as to withstand studio lights as well as outdoor use. Many of these television test charts were made by Hale Color Consultants, Inc., for the industry since 1955; others were designed further on as the demands of technology have changed. We trust you will find them of assistance in your work. Hale Color Charts, Inc., was established in September,1991,when Nick Hale, president of Hale Color Consultants,Inc., a pioneer and veteran in the color science industry, decided to semi-retire from the business and sold the chart element of his company to his daughter, Nathalie Plotnikoff. Hale Color Charts, Inc., is known for the quality of
its charts, and strives to uphold and maintain the standards our customers enjoy
in, and expect of our products. Hale
